sc house - Co. Wexford

This two story dwelling was constructed in timberpost and beam with strawbale infill.
The round shape was chosen to minimise wind resistance. A heat recover ventilation system (HRV)was also installed.
Solar panels and a solid wood stove help to achieve a high BER energy rating.
The build was started in May 2008 and was completed in March 2009 plenty of photos below.

19th May 2009, Home completed. These photos were taken on a cloudy day, with no artificial lighting.

20th February 2009, plastering inside is finished.
Staircase in. Painting and fitout nearly completed.

29th November 2008, plastering outside is finished.
Inside plastering is nearly completed.

29th September 2008, plastering out side has started. Roof window is fitted.
Inside all the non strawbale walls and ceilings got plaster board.

1st September 2008, "biobasedinsulation.ie" soy-based polyurethane spray-in-place foam insulation
started in roof area, Electrician and heat recovery ducting (HRV) also in progress.

22nd August 2008, bailing nearly complete.

3rd August 2008. Zeno & Karen (architect & wife) lend a helping hand
and put in a few hours, starting the first floor bailing in sons room.

1st August 2008. Windows in. Ground floor bailing almost finsihed.

18th July 2008. Raised floor living room (core) in.

13th July 2008. Wall Rasing has begun! The roof is closed and scaffolding is wrapped in PVC.

27th June 2008, the timber post have arrived & scaffolding is up.

27th May 2008, the timber post boots are being fitted in the rain.

The build was started 19th May 2008, getting ready for Eco Concrete.
