Green Award 2012, The Green Residential Building Winning project 'hemp lime' house progress photos
jb hempcrete house - Co. Longford
This two story dwelling is based on a traditional long house.
It is constructed in timberframe with a hempcrete cast construction
outer wall 450mm thick. It was a self build. The client was 100% hands on.
He had great attention to detail.
A heat recover ventilation system (HRV) and rainwater harvesting wwas also be installed.
A wetland system designed by Olan Herr reedbed and wetland system consultant Dundalk
is also part of the build.

Snow and tempratures of -15c in December stopped construction for 2010.
With some of the fine weather in January 2011 the hemp walls
on the first floor could be finished.
February saw the windows to be fitted.

The Garage was built first to put the knowledge into
practice and get good hands on experience for the House build.
