29th November to the 13th of December - KOMZET Training Germany

Two week intensive training program in Germany by KOMZET.
Training provided by experts in the field of sustainable construction.
Training was a mixture of lectures, practical skills and site visits.
The following subjects were covered:
* Timber construction systems, common methods and standards
* Air tightness, theory and practical demonstration and blower door testing
* Timber and earth construction methods
* Timber Product quality
* Building Physics and biology, thermal bridges & condensation
* Heating and Ventilation Systems
* Design principles
* Insulation Materials
Theoretical knowledge was mixed with practical demonstrations to enhance learning experience.
Visits and exposure to the entire sustainable building construction chain is used to
back up the theoretical knowledge.

7th November 2014 - See the Light 2014 conference will be held in UCD

The Passive House Association of Ireland announce that the See the Light 2014
conference will be held in UCD.
The theme for this year's conference is 2030: Achieving Intelligent Energy Balance.
Zeno spoke in the morning session about a few of his Passive houses.
"Passive Houses Can be Green, Lean and Potentially Mainstream - Residential Case Studies"

12th September 2014 - Citywest Conference Centre

Zeno attended the day is packed with 6 in no 45 minute seminars delivered by leading construction
industry experts. Environmentally friendly and sustainable building practices and materials.
Features live demonstrations and workshops. Next to the Selfbuild show.

25th June 2014 - Waterford WIT - Session 1: Energy Compliance

Understanding Your Responsibilities in Design and Construction
Central to Certification for domestic projects will be compliance with
the Building Regulations, the core of which are those that pertain to
energy efficiency. This workshop will elaborate on key aspects of compliance
with 'Part L' and 'Part F' and will give designers, contractors and
self-builders a jargon-free and practical insight into what's involved.
Presented by the Passive House Academy based in Wicklow. Zeno Attended.

17th June 2014 - RIAI CPD Seminar on Heath & Safety Dublin

The RIAI and Safety By Design present "Safety by Design",an intensive
half-day safety course designed by architects for architects.
The purpose of the course is to provide Architects with a working knowledge
of health and safety and the role of the designer under the construction regulations.

30th May 2014 - 2014 Wexford Business Awards Shortlist Announced

We are Shortlisted in the "Wexford Green Business Award" category.
Now in their sixth year, and a highly respected accolade for businesses
in the county, the Wexford Business Awards has distinguished itself
through a robust and fair judging process, with a large panel of
judges hailing from academia, industry leaders, government bodies,
CEOs and senior directors.

10th and 11th May 2014
Zeno took take part again (7th year running) in the Simon Community Open door initiative.

11th March 2014 - Irish Building and Design Awards 2014

We are finalists for the Sustainable Green Project of the year 2014.
Taking place on the 11th April in the Four Seasons Hotel in Dublin 4, the country's
leading professionals and representatives from across the built industries will
once again be rewarded for their outstanding achievement in the last 12 months.

13th February 2014 - Event, Ecovillage in Cloughjordan, Co Tipperary

Zeno will be attending The Living Building Challenge , Case Studies from the Ecovillage in Cloughjordan
The workshop will begin with an introduction to the Living Building Challenge,
and an overview of the imperatives and criteria used to measure projects in this system.

20th January 2014 - RIAI Briefing on Building Control (Amendment) Regulations 2014.

One item that was highlighted is that a domestic extensions under 40 square metres,
regardless if planning was obtained or not,still just needs the short form
Commencement notice as before.
NO change there, after 1st of March 2014.
So no additional work re small domestic builds. Its a two tier system.
